An ingrown hair is basically a hair that curls back on itself in such a way that it starts growing back into the hair follicle. This condition is primarily seen in people with curly hair and may be accompanied by an infection of the hair follicle (folliculitis) or razor bumps called (pseudofolliculitis barbae).
Ingrown hairs normally occur in areas where the skin is shaved or waxed but can sometimes affects other parts of the body without provocation.
