Razor burns come about when a person with sensitive skin use inadequate shaving techniques which may result in the removal of puckered hair follicles and irregular skin. Razor burns can be easily identified by red or irritated skin, scabs, rash and the appearance of hair bumps and/or ingrown hair.

- Apply light creams rich in aloe vera or tea tree oil directly to the area to soothe and protect.
- Avoid shaving until the area heals but if you must shave stick with single blade razors and shave as low as your can with getting too close to the skin.
- Once the area has healed use an exfoliating cream to slough of dead skin cells.
Tip: Stay away from products containing alcohol which will only dry out and irritate your skin. This includes perfumes, colognes and products meant for treating razor bumps which contain alcohol.
